What would be the easiest paint medium for a novice painter to begin with?

I have never painted or seriously drawn a picture before. I am a creative person though, and love to write and view art. I especially love surreal and abstract watercolor paintings. I don’t think I have any real artistic talent in the way of drawing faces, flowers, etc. Basically I like surreal and abstract paintings, and especially like the way watercolors come across. I am looking to start a hobby, and think I would enjoy mixing colors and creating unique images.
I have been told by several people, including my husband, that watercolors is one of the most difficult and frustrating mediums for a beginner to start out with. He recommends colored pencils or chalk. I don’t want to do drawings. I want to blend colours and create surreal type images.
Are there any recommendations for the medium I should begin with? And also, cost ? I can’t really afford to buy top notch supplies. Since it’s a hobby, I want to be pratical.
Lastly, Is watercolor a bad idea for a novice?

Can President Bush be held accountable for his actions as president after hes no longer president?

Or, can any president be punished for things they did during their presidency that is thought to be criminal? Do they all have immunity as president and after president?
President Bush has over 400 vacation days logged so far during his 6 1/2 year presidency, and working on having more days than the president with the most, reagan. Which is not a crime, just an interesting note. It seems as though being president to Bush is more like a hobby, than a job.
The illegal act I am referring to is his lying to congress to begin the iraq war in the first place. If this were Saddam hussein lying to us and supplying us with false documents in order to legally kill in iraq, he would have had that added to his court case. Shouldn’t president bush be held accountable for his actions as leader, just as we, iraq, and the rest of the world held saddam accountable for his. I admit saddam and bush are completely different, saddam has done worse. But 1 wrong is bad, the same as 40 wrongs.
Actually we the people did not put him in office two times, he only got majority vote once. Al gore got the majority US votes, if you look back into the history, Bush won through electoral college, so get the facts straight.

Actually lets look at the real news flash. President bush said Iraq had WMD, no WMD was found to be there, or having ever been there. Therefore, in saying WMD was there, he in turn LIED. Making me not a liar, thanks 
I dont support anyone lying, I dont care what party you are in or even if you have no party. But I believe there is a big difference between a lie, and what president bush did. President bush Knowingly took paperwork showing intelligence that was believed to be false by many of his top officials, and passed it off as true to everyone in congress, these papers lead to the eventual war authorization.

What is a good place to buy semi professional art supplies, and what should I buy?

My boyfriend had originally gone to college as an art major but changed his major to something more “practical” at his parents request during his sophomore year. Because he was so busy with school he stopped his artwork completely. When he moved out of his college apartment he ended up throwing out all of his old supplies because he hadn’t used them since he switched majors and was busy with his new job etc., and didn’t think he would ever need them again.
Well it’s been a few years and he has been telling me that he wished he had kept his supplies because he would like to start sketching and painting again, just as a hobby in his free time. I thought it would be a nice addition to his Christmas gift to get him some good supplies.
Not being an artist myself, I really have no idea what to get or where to get it. I know he likes sketching with pencil, and painting with acrylics, but that was all I could drag out of him without it being obvious that I was digging for information. Any suggestion on what types of supplies I might want to look into?
If you have a specific store in mind too, I would greatly appreciate it. I live in Orange County, CA. I wouldn’t mind ordering online either if there is an online store.

Looking for a “drill/tap guide block”. Aids in drilling/tapping perpendicular holes by hand?

English &/or metric desired. Ideally would cover the drill/tap sizes anywhere from 1/16″ to 1/2″. Can find this item in the hobby supplies but it only goes up to 1/4″, too small. I am looking for a broader range for common sizes used in auto and general repair.
