If someone you know is retiring and you are considering a homemade retirement gift instead of buying a gift, then you may want to contemplate a funny gift you could give. Most retirements try to go for humor rather than getting too serious. You also want the gift to be special for your retiree. By going homemade you may also be considering the gift to be unique, but cost effective as well since you will be creating it yourself.

By making a gift, you will be able to make your gift more personal and also make it so others will know you spent time and thought on your retirement gift.  The best way to come up with your gift would be to think about what likes, interests and hobbies the retiree has. Brainstorm a list and after creating the list you will need to begin marrowing the list down.If you want to create a gift that also has a bit of humor in it, then brainstorm ideas that will be easier to incorporate humor into.If the retiree is planning to do something after retirement that is serious, like work with his church, that will not provide you with humorous ideas.  However, if he plans to live on the golf course then you can find a way to make the gift funny.

You of course don’t want your gift to be the same as everyone elses, you want your gift to be unique.  That will be much easier when you are making a homemade retirement gift. For instance if you like needle work you could buy a plan shirt and put a slogan on it such as “golf course or bust” if the retiree likes golf. Perhaps you are learning a new craft like how to crochet in which case you might want to create crocheted golf club covers.  The best way to introduce humor in that case would be to make the cover with a cartoon head or something that is personal to the retiree.

The gifts are endless when you are considering a homemade retirement gift and if you are into crafting the creation will be very simple for you.  If you are not a real crafty type person you may want to take a different route for your gift. Many people love chocolate so you could consider making homemade fudge and presenting it as your gift.  It may lack the humor element, but you could always present it in a box that has been designed towards humor.

The ideas are endless, but when you make a homemade gift, you have the advantage of creating a personal, unique, and thoughtful gift rather then just purchasing a gift. Get your creative juices flowing and enjoy your retirement party!
