Are We Ready to Believe in America Again?
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedNow that the excitement of the 2009 election and inauguration is over, it will be interesting to see if the interest that people showed in the political process during the election will be something we can count on going forward. The 2009 election was one of the most historic ever, but time will tell if that is enough to keep people rallied behind the president.
It would benefit all Americans, because we’ve been divided long enough. For example, there would be great benefit to veterans if this unification happened. Many left parts of themselves on foreign battlefields and in the case of the Viet Nam war, they didn’t get the appreciation they deserved when they came back to America. That’s the reason I felt compelled to design some free Veterans Day clip art that pays tribute to veterans. Using the clip art wherever veterans will see it is a small way we can show our support of them. That show of support could mean a lot to veterans who feel their country has forgotten them.
We need to honor veterans more often than just sending occasional Memorial or Veterans Day patriotic greeting cards. Americans need to value them all the time. As fellow Americans, we owe it to them. If we don’t extend that respect toward; them who will?
On the other hand, every American – not just veterans – would benefit from the unification of our country. It would be wonderful to see people saluting American flags when on parade, because they genuinely believe in what the flag stands for. One would hope that love of country will help us unify.
But will this unity take place? Some people are already having a bad reaction to Obama’s proposed changes. But it’s always that way with a new administration. Those checks and balances actually can help keep the process balanced. That’s the way it’s supposed to work anyway! It will be fascinating to see how it turns out.
