I’m interested in turning my Jewlery design hobby into a business. In order to get discounts on supplies, I need an I.D. Anyone know what I need to do?

For the wholesalers you will need a Federal Tax ID. I have provided a link below. With this form you can request your ID on line and can have it within 24hrs. You will need to have your business name and location along with the owner(s). There are instructions on the page. I have also added a link for the MI business start up page. If you pay wages in the state of MI you will need a tax ID through MI as well. I hope this helps. I am currently working through the same forms. Good Luck.

You might also want a michigan business license. Usually this is through the state revenue office. Call the clerk at your city hall or county building and they can tell you where to go. If you are starting a full-time business then you might want to incorporate so you can have some liability protection and establish a corporate line of credit seperate from your own.
